Your need for perfection is keeping you small.
Yep, I’m calling you out. Don’t worry, it’s not just you.
This is basically me calling myself out, too.
We can learn together.
Perfection is unattainable and yet, it’s everything we strive for, right?
The perfect job, the perfect body, the perfect family.
We set goals and keep them rigid,
stick to the steps and then tear ourselves apart when we falter over one or two.
Our inner bully takes the wheel and all control is lost.
I can’t do this.
This isn’t where I am supposed to be at this age.
I should be stronger.
I should be smarter.
I don’t deserve to reach this goal.
I don’t deserve to have this thing.
Uh, what?! Who let that bully drive?!
Raise your hand if you’ve said one or all of these thoughts below (I know I have.🙋🏽♀️)
THE BIG BAD 10 (directly quoted from our inner bully)
- I need to have my sh*t together before I start.
- I’m not ready yet.
- I’m not qualified enough.
- Making money is greedy. I don’t deserve it.
- Someone else is already doing it.
- I’ll never be able to balance a business, motherhood, and still have a social life.
- I don’t have enough money to start a business.
- Everyone will laugh at me.
- I don’t have the time.
- I’m not capable of handling the responsibilities, if I do succeed in this.
A few of those strike a nerve?
These thoughts are stealing your power. Tell yourself these ideas enough and you’ll not only start to believe them, you’ll become them.
You will become the person your inner bully believes you are.
It’s high time we take the keys to our life back.
We start by letting go of “perfect.
Break down that self doubt. Analyze it. Understand it.
Why do you feel this way?
Where did these feelings come from?
Have you always felt this way?
Don’t shy away from hard truths or changing plans or growth.
We are fluid creatures, we weren’t meant to be stagnant.
So, what are you going to do today?
Besides get yourself an oat milk latte…
Kick that bully right out of your car and take back the wheel. Not feeling that aggressive today? Or maybe you need a little time to just sit with your bully to find out how the hell they got in the driver seat. That’s okay, too. Just let them ride shotgun or maybe scoot them into the backseat. Your job today is to take back the wheel. You are the driver, girlfriend.
And you deserve to be.
Just in case you need a playlist for that ride, put this ON REPEAT.
Today and every day, I choose to do what I want to do. I will do everything that feels in alignment with my vision. I will not allow the lies that creep in or the thoughts of others to hold me back from living my life according to my true soul’s calling.
