Big news down here in Tampa…The Bucs won the SUPER BOWL! I mean, incredible, amazing, fantastic, all the good feelings words, ALL OF THEM! They went from barely holding it together for a season to winning the Super Bowl in their own stadium. 31-9. That’s phenomenal. I spent the night snuggled up with my girls and my husband, ended the night dancing around the room, jumping and screaming! And I’m not even a huge football fan.
So naturally not being wildly into football, I’m not on the Tom Brady bandwagon, but he’s an incredible athlete and what I think is even more impressive is his leadership. He has a definite force around him that inspires and brings people together. Take a look at his track record! Pretty remarkable. Tom Brady seems like the kind of person who knows what his strengths are and learns to utilize his weaknesses. He seems like the kind of person that believes 100% in their own capabilities and therefore brings others into their confidence, into their own strengths. He seems to open the space for others the shine.
What if you were to live your life as he does – to lean into your strengths, to own them rather than hide from or bury them? What if you did as you set out to do, instead of shy away from opportunities because of guilt or shame or self-doubt? How different would your life look right now? Who could you inspire? What dreams and goals could be reached?
Now, I don’t mean to just babble on about the Super Bowl, but some pretty cool things dawned on me this past weekend. I’ve felt like we collectively have been on a tense, dark path – the world always feeling a bit heavy, like we’ve been on the edge of an explosion of emotion. I have to tell you, when the Bucs won the big game – the feeling of joy and happiness and pure elation was palatable. I could, and honestly, still can feel the shift. It’s electric. It gives me such hope for the future, to know that we are still capable of the intense feeling happiness can bring. If we all could spend a little time doing something that ignited our passions, how different do you think our world could feel?
I really feel like this all ties together so nicely. If we were to own and believe in our strengths, channel our weaknesses into usefulness, and devote just a small amount of time nurturing our passions imagine how incredibly beautiful our world could be? We could outshine the sun. Collective energy is such a powerful, powerful thing – just look at the Bucs. Small changes in our daily lives could leave us with a much brighter world.
Challenge yourself this week. Really do it. Write it down, schedule it in, and just get it done. Write down your strengths, your weaknesses, and something, anything you are passionate about. Every day for a week, pay attention to those things. Act on them. Put the wheels of change in motion and I have a feeling at the end of the week, you’ll see growth. You’ll feel the tiny adjustments shifting into place readying yourself to reach for bigger dreams.
